I'm more of 'a man with a camera' than a real photographer. Strictly amateur (a dilettante, if I'm being honest), with an interest in candid people shots, local sports (especially our junior footballers), performers and the natural world around us. I love this world and the people in it, and hope to capture some of its essence. Occasionally I do.

I have a lot of older photos scanned from film, and they appear here, too. They're the ones that look like they've been manipulated to make them look grainy, except they're like that naturally. This is just a selection of my better photos. There is a less exclusive collection on Flickr.

Mostly I use my Nikon D200 with a very limited selection of inexpensive Nikkor lenses; two nice primes (a 20+ year old AF 24mm 1:2.8 and a 50mm 1:1.8D) and a surprisingly good, cheap plastic zoom (55-200mm 1:4-5.6G VR). If I get any better at this, I could probably justify getting a fancy 70-200 f2.8 zoom lens for sports and those night time shows at which I can never get any properly exposed, close up photos.

I also have a small collection of rangefinders (Yashica GSN & Minister D, Ricoh 500GX) and old film SLRs (Canon AE-1P, Olympus OM20, Practika LTL and a newish Nikon N70). I like the old ones a lot - they are less confusing than the D200!
